Department of Biotechnology was Established in 2006
Biotechnology is the scientific manipulation of living organisms, especially at the molecular and genetic level to produce useful products. Biotechnology combines disciplines like Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Embryology, Cell Biology. Bio-technology has applications in four major areas including health care, crop productivity, industrial uses of organisms and environmental uses.

- Latest infrastructure matching with the requirements of the present scenario whether recent books, e-books and journals in the library or well equipped two spacious labs, store and a faculty room which cater to the needs of the students for in-depth analysis.
- To keep abreast with the recent and the latest knowledge on various aspects of the subject, the department keeps organising the workshops, seminars and extension lectures in which scholars par excellence are invited to enlighten the faculty members as well as the students.
- The insightful and innovative approach of the teachers has led the institution to establish the Central Research Lab.
- Faculty members do not miss any opportunity to attend national/international /workshops organised by different universities.
- Increasing academic and research activities in the department motivated UGC to permit the college to start medical lab technology course.

- Medical Biotechnology- Production of monoclonal antibodies, safe vaccines, rare and highly valuable drugs such as human interferon, insulin etc.
- Agricultural Biotechnology- It has opened up exciting possibilities in crop production, protection and improvement.
- Environmental Biotechnolgy- Bacteria are being utilized for detoxification of industrial effluents, in combating oil spills, for treatment of sewage and for biogas production.
- Industrial Biotechnology- Used for production of biochemicals and processing of foods and feeds.
- Forensic Science- DNA fingerprinting helps in solving parentage disputes and identification of criminals.
