As technology develops in leaps and bounds, the opportunities for expanding the field of computing grow rapidly. Almost from a small business application to dynamic intelligence application, computers are playing an essential role. The Computer Science courses in the dept. give a sound base in the fundamentals of computing and an understanding of the technology.
Established in 1989-90, the Computer Science an Applications Department continues to lead the computer science education.
Highlights of the Departments
Teaching is the real strength of the department, supported by well qualified and experienced 40 faculty members with student strength around 2700.
- The Department has been pioneer in the field of Computer Education running Computer SC and Computer Application(VOC) both in Science and Commerce streams . we have Professional courses namely BCA and BVOC(SOFTWARE) at UG level and PGDCA, MSC(Computer Science) at PG level .In addition to these Add-on-courses like Web Designing & Office Automation, Data Care Management, Graphics and Animation are available for students.
- Department has well equipped 26 laboratories with 500 latest configuration Computers and latest Software .These labs work in three shifts to provide maximum access to students.
- Equipments like laser printers (Colored and Black/White), Scanners are used to expose students to latest technology.
- Lease line Internet connection connects students to Information Highway
- Labs are equipped with LCD projectors.
- Two Smart Class Rooms with Touch Screens, Smart Panel, Projectors and Visualizer are used by students for presentations.
- We help students to become self disciplined and responsible citizen.
- The department faculty members are involving themselves in guiding and doing research .
- Workshops are organized to expose them with the tools and software not available in the curriculum.
